BarChata Corp ("BarChata," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information across the BarChata ecosystem — including BarChata Social, BarChata Biz, BarNet, and BarNone.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, and (for venue partners) business name, address, phone number, and payment information processed securely through Stripe.

The BarChata Social app additionally collects your device’s precise location to verify venue check-ins (within approximately 150 meters), and content you create and share, including photos, videos, audio in video posts, direct messages, and other community content. We also collect a device identifier to deliver push notifications, and we track your Hearts balance and purchase history.

We automatically collect certain technical information, including log data, device information, IP addresses, and usage patterns to improve our platform.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to create and secure accounts, verify check-ins and award Hearts, show relevant venues and events based on your location, enable messaging and social features, send push notifications, process transactions, and provide customer support. We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your information for third-party advertising.

3. Hearts & BarPoints Data

Transaction data related to Hearts, BarPoints, and loyalty activity is stored securely and used solely to operate the BarChata loyalty ecosystem. This data may be shared with venue owners to whom it directly pertains.

4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing

We share information with trusted service providers who help operate our platform: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email), Expo (push notifications), and Google Places, Ticketmaster, and Unsplash (venue, event, and image information). These providers are contractually required to protect your data.

5. Data Retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Stories/Vibes are removed after 48 hours, event-related chat messages are removed within 24 hours of the event ending, and notifications are removed after 7 days. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us below.

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption, secure HTTPS connections, and row-level database security. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

7. Your Rights (PIPEDA & GDPR)

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Canadian users are protected under PIPEDA; EU users are protected under GDPR. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

9. Age Requirements

BarChata Social is a nightlife and social app and is not directed at, or intended for use by, children. You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction (whichever is greater), to create an account and use the app.
